Wave propagation in a circular channel: sloshing and resonance

چکیده

Abstract Surface wave resonance of a liquid (water) layer confined in circular channel is studied both experimentally and numerically. For the experiment, eight unevenly distributed ultrasonic distance sensors measure local height surface. The curves show maxima only for odd multiples fundamental frequency $$f_0$$ f 0 . We explained this behavior using simple intuitive “ping-pong” like model. Collision fronts can be observed higher frequencies. Also, reflection on walls treated as collision with itself. non-linearity seems to weak our study so delay propagation before after small. Time-space plots localized propagating waves high amplitudes frequencies near resonance. Between peaks low amplitude harmonic patterns are observed. However, frequencies, band becomes wider. In Fourier space-time plane, point or superposition two lines: one line parallel wave-vector k axis corresponding excitation second inclination given by velocity $$\sqrt{gh}$$ gh planned future work, result will help us reconstruct whole water surface elevation time-series from few measurement points

Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Circular Tunnels

The problem of guided wave propagation in a wave guide with imperfectly reflecting boundaries arises in several applications, such as propagation in mine tunnels and in screened surface wave guides. In recent years, many studies have been carried out on the propagation characteristic of radio waves in tunnels in UHF band [1-2]. From the theoretical point of view, tunnels can be regarded as holl...

Cybernetic Control in a Supply Chain: Wave Propagation and Resonance

The cybernetic control and management of production can be improved by an understanding of the dynamics of the supply chains for the production organizations. This paper describes an attempt to better understand the dynamics of a linear supply chain through the application of the normal mode analysis technique of physics. A model is considered in which an organization’s response to a perturbati...

Plane Wave Propagation Through a Planer Slab

An approximation technique is considered for computing transmission and reflection coefficients for propagation of an elastic pulse through a planar slab of finite width. The propagation of elastic pulse through a planar slab is derived from first principles using straightforward time-dependent method. The paper ends with calculations of enhancement factor for the elastic plane wave and it is s...

Wave propagation theory in offshore applications

A frequency-wavenumber-domain formulation is presented in this paper for calculation of the Green's functions and wave propagation modes in a stratified fluid body underlain by a layered viscoelastic soil medium. The Green's functions define the solid and fluid displacements and fluid pressures due to uniform disk loads acting in either the soil or fluid media. The solution is in the frequency ...
